A diuretic is any substance that promotes diuresis, the increased production of urine. This includes forced diuresis. There are several categories of diuretics. All diuretics increase the excretion of water from bodies, although each class does so in a distinct way.
[I] HIGH EFFICIENCY DIURETICS ( HIGH CEILING OR LOOP DIURETICS)

[II] MEDIUM EFFICIENCY DIURETICS
1. Benzothiazides( Thiazides):-

2. Thiazides like duretics:-
eg: Chlorthalidone, Indapamide
[III] WEAK OR ADJUVANT DIURETICS
1. Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors:-
eg: Acetazolamide
2. K+ Sparing diuretics:-
a. Aldosterone Antagonist:-
eg: Spironolactone, Eplerenone
b. Inhibitors of renal epithelial Na+ channel:-
eg: Triamterene
3. Osmotic diuretics:-
eg: Mannitol, Isosorbide
